Notes
The song is one quarter of a tetralogy of songs named after the four seasons, "Springsong", "Summersong", "Autumnsong", and "Wintersong".
The song is a nine-minute instumental. When played to Alex Day of Chameleon Circuit, he claimed he was "moved", that "the song is the finest [he's] ever heard by [Tom]", and that it "marked a notable transition in [his] outlook on [Tom's] musicianship from "yeah, Tom's songs are really good" to "OMG WOW"".[1]
Parts of the song feature the same chord sequence as "Springsong" and "Wintersong". This chord sequence is originally based on "Electric Wave", an electronic song by Tom, that was originally written for a film adaptation of the experiment and book The Wave, that Milsom and his friend Tom Black were going to make, though the project was scrapped. The song is popular among fans of his electronic work though, and is available for free download on his website, here.
