Time Lord Rock
The genre of Trock (Time Lord Rock) was invented by singer-songwriter Alex Day and refers to songs written about the popular long-running British sci-fi television show Doctor Who. It was spawned based on the slowly-growing concept of "Wizard Rock", which refers to songs written about the world of Harry Potter, books and films alike.
In its current status, the Trock material already written mostly covers the "New-Who" movement (i.e. the reinvention of the show from 2005 onwards). However, judging from the rapidly growing public interest in Chameleon Circuit, many other Trock bands can be expected to form, covering all aspects of the show, including the classic series.
An eighteen-track compilation album, Trock On!, was released on August 6, 2009. It was compiled by Alex Day and all of the proceeds of the album are to go towards "a Trock fund" to help loan the money to bands for studio recording, promotion, etc.
On November, 26 2009 Charlie and Alex wrote a new song for Chameleon Circuit and Alex said on his blog there would be a 2nd album.
Critical reception
On June 1, 2009, Chameleon Circuit's self-titled debut album began shipping. Over 1,000 units were sold and shipped the first week of release, making it DFTBA's biggest album launch to date. Over the following two weeks, Chameleon Circuit were interviewed for numerous blogs and online publications, before receiving a full-page interview and review in the official Doctor Who Magazine.
On June 2nd, Blink landed the #92 spot on iTunes' Top 100 Rock Singles chart. On June 23, Chameleon Circuit hit #37 on iTunes' Top 100 Rock Albums chart.
Chameleon Circuit became the first artist signed to DFTBA Records that will have cd's available in a brick and mortar store. The Who Shop just placed a wholesale order so they can carry their CD at their shop in Upton Park, London.
