Notes
This song was originally written in Sicily in April 2006 during a school trip, titled "On A Coach In Sicily", while he was sitting on an empty coach - making it the oldest song on Parrot Stories. Alex was inspired by a Dido B-side called "Paris". The lyrics were scribbled on to the back of a worksheet about Palermo - Alex posted the lyrics sheet to Alan Lastufka, saying he could have the "neriabillia" and joking that when he dies Alan can open a museum, as he also has the original scribbled lyrics to "Candy Floss" and the Chameleon Circuit track "Journey's End".
The song previously appeared as part of a free 12-track album by Alex called Nerimania!. The album consisted mostly of ripped audio from vlogs on his YouTube channel and his now-deleted music channel 'nericoustic'.
Lyrics
Sat in peaceful scenery
The city lights shine bright around me
The smell of last night's dinner is still breezing through the air
Dozing in tranquility
The morning sun hangs high above me
Clicking camera shutters catch bewildered foreign stares
And I must be away from my home
But it feels so close to me
And I must be away from my home
But it feels so close to me
Clifftop is our tapestry
The sunlit sky does well to cool me
Drifting past the villas in a coach without a care
Blackjack in serenity
Fellow makers ride beside me
Walking through an archway and admiring what lies there
And I must be away from my home
But it feels so close to me
And I must be away from my home
But it feels so close to me
And I must be away from my home
But it feels so close to me
And I must be away from my home
But it feels so close to me
Sat in peaceful scenery
The city lights shine bright around me
Smell of last night's dinner is still breezing through the air
Through the air
