"Springsong" is the first track on the album Painfully Mainstream by Tom Milsom.

Contents

Notes

The song is one quarter of a tetralogy of songs named after the four seasons, "Springsong", "Summersong", "Autumnsong", and "Wintersong".

The song appeared in a previous form as a seemingly nonsensical list, but was completely rewritten for the album release.

Parts of the song feature the same chord sequence as "Autumnsong" and "Wintersong". This chord sequence is originally based on "Electric Wave", an electronic song by Tom, that was originally written for a film adaptation of the experiment and book The Wave, that Milsom and his friend Tom Black were going to make, though the project was scrapped. The song is popular among fans of his electronic work though, and is available for free download on his website, here.

Lyrics

Little sun
It's hard to forget you
Every time we let you
In again

Stuck between
Always being too cold
And then when you get old
It's wrong again

And you're real
You're real
You're real life

Everything
Too brilliant to mention
It was my intention
To let it go

Growing worlds
Over the horizon
Find the hill it lies on
And be alone

Cause you'll relight
You'll relight
You'll relight, relight

We're running out of water
We're running out of water

Appears On
