Production
Production on Taking Leave began in December of 2008 when Lastufka sent a demo recording of the album to Milsom. The demos were mostly acoustic and Lastufka asked Milsom to help produce the songs for a commercial release. Milsom went into the studio in Spring 2009 after rewriting most of the music to replace the original demos.
A companion EP, Pieces of the Mirror: The Taking Leave B-Sides which features alternate versions, covers, and remixes of "Just A Boy", "Can't", and "Forgiven" respectively, was released for free conditional download a week after Taking Leave.
Notes
On August 16, 2009, Alan posted the full EP (with accompanying artwork taken from the Digital Booklet) on his YouTube channel for free streaming. It can be seen here.
